ABOUT

SLUT CLUB is more than just a provocative name. It's a deliciously daring documentary short film that explores sexuality and femininity through an empowering environment. It delves into the heart of Ms T’s Slut Club, a unique pole dancing show in Cape Town created for women and the LGBTQIA+ community, and celebrates this radical act of self-love, acceptance, and community.

SIGNIFICANCE

SLUT CLUB exemplifies the vital role that radical safe spaces play in today's society. These spaces offer a sense of belonging, community, and safety, allowing individuals to explore their identities authentically without fear of judgment or discrimination.

This documentary delves into the concept of divine femininity and its connection to sexuality, challenging the patriarchal view of feminine sexuality as something to be controlled or suppressed. Instead, it embraces sexuality as a source of power and liberation. The film portrays divine femininity as deeply rooted in the physical and spiritual, celebrating the body as a sacred vessel of creation.

At its core, SLUT CLUB promotes diverse and queer joy as a form of resistance, recognising that “joy becomes resistance against a system that has the purpose of preventing it.” In a world where queer and trans individuals and marginalised bodies still face oppression, spaces like Ms T's Slut Club provide a vital platform for self-expression and community building.

Ms T's Slut Club and the documentary also serve as a powerful form of advocacy for sex workers. The film challenges the stigma and negative stereotypes often associated with the profession, highlighting the importance of respecting bodily autonomy and safety, advocating for the destigmatisation and decriminalisation of sex work in South Africa and around the globe.

SLUT CLUB invites audiences to connect with their scared sexuality. The documentary captures this through intimate interviews and evocative visuals. The performers share their experiences of reclaiming their bodies and sexuality, finding empowerment through self-exploration and expression. They speak of honouring their emotions, trusting their intuition, and embracing their vulnerability as pathways to unlocking their divine feminine power.
